Job Description

A prominent civil litigation firm is seeking a seasoned Senior Litigation Legal Secretary for an assignment at their Carlsbad location. This is a demanding, high-output role suited for a legal professional who brings deep trial experience, sharp attention to detail, and the ability to manage a heavy litigation workload with confidence and precision.

The ideal candidate has a minimum of five years of litigation experience, with 7-8 years strongly preferred, much of it involving trial work. This role provides comprehensive litigation support across all facets of case management, from inception through trial.

Compensation: $35 - $50 per hour DOE

Your Role on the Team

  • Assist attorneys with all aspects of trial preparation, including organizing and maintaining trial binders, exhibit lists, and witness materials
  • Draft, prepare, and proofread motions, discovery documents, pleadings, and correspondence with accuracy and a strong command of legal formatting
  • Electronically file and serve documents in state and federal courts in strict compliance with applicable rules and deadlines
  • Manage and maintain attorney calendars, including short deadlines, hearings, depositions, and meetings, with meticulous attention to case schedules
  • Organize and maintain physical and electronic case files using document management systems such as iManage
  • Coordinate with clients, opposing counsel, court reporters, and expert witnesses as needed
  • Support the legal team with additional duties as active litigation demands require

Your Credentials

  • Minimum of five years of litigation legal secretary experience required; 7-8 years strongly preferred
  • Substantial, hands-on trial experience is essential; at least five years of trial experience strongly desired
  • Demonstrated experience with motions practice and discovery
  • Thorough knowledge of state and federal court filing rules, service requirements, and e-filing systems
  • Strong calendaring skills, including tracking and managing court deadlines
  • Proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite and document management software
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with a sharp eye for detail
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities under pressure while maintaining the highest level of professionalism and discretion
